About me
A Graduate from Sheridan College (Oakville, Ontario) back in 2004 I studied Illustration and came up with a love for cartoons and digital execution. From there I worked for Sanford Brands, a pen and marker company (home of the famous Sharpie Marker) where I was a designer working on marketing and advertising. In the year of 2004 I also launched Doohamel Studios which became my own freelance business for illustration and design.
For the past years I have had the chance to work with some great companies and have a fair bit of commercial success. I started with working for a Canadian Music Magazine called CHART, and from there moved onto The Heart & Stroke Foundation and even had a great experience with BBDO Advertising. In the summer of 2007 I worked on the Dodge Avenger campaign which featured 3 illustrations of hero themed ads. It became a great success and I appeared in over 15 magazines, billboards, building sized posters and a 6 week online campaign.
At the end of september 2008 I lost my design job with Sanford Brands due to the economy struggle and focused more on Doohamel Studios. At this time I also launched Mark and Damien. Mark and Damien was my first comic strip and I spent 3 months developing the concept and the characters. On January 4th 2009 I launched Mark and Damien's first strip and have been working on it every week. I feel very fortunate to have this now in my life and I feel like I have a great purpose now.
