Des - Your Gimp Boy shows real movement where as The Girl Who Coudn't Hula is almost static (which is why she can't hula.)- and one should never hula gracefully. I know you didn't rip me off, Des, I was just jesting so you can sleep easy:
Y'know, now that I see the pic, I remember seeing the pic, but honestly m'lud, I never thunk of it when I was drawing the Vicious Circle, and I absolutely did not intend to plagiarise your work. I hope we can settle this out of court.
I've gotta say, Gimp Boy is nowhere near as graceful as your hula girl, and I say that as his spiritual father.
boy - This drawing originally part of the title sequence to a comic strip called 'The Girl Who Couldn't Hula' in a retro style anthology called Waikiki Luau. However I was never really pleased with the strip - I only liked tis image and it was later used for a CD cover by a group called the Surfones (they actually named their album 'The Girl Who Couldn't Hula' after this image). But if ever you can come up with a strip that could fit this image let me know.
Well spotted - she does indeed have six fingers on the left hand but I like to keep these little foibles in to keep you on your toes Andi - The backgound colouration was done with oil based crayons mixed with white spirit and whtle oil crayon. I like the flakey specked look as it brings across texture and depth. So I'd rather not change it, thank you very much.

I like the reduced set of colors.
