Pratchett's Wizards - sketches

Was on the train to Dublin yesterday. It's a five hour round trip. On the way up, I was reading Pratchett's "Reaper Man" - realised again what a work of genius it is. On the way back, I felt the urge to do a few doodles based on the book. Here are a few of those there. They are very rough and unfinished, but a train isn't a very stable work area, and I was a bit tired at the time.

Thanks ! I will sneak over to your gallery XD

@ Jodis : thanks. Very much appreciated. I have other Pratchett sketches in my gallery if you're looking for them. Detritus, Look Who's Back, Happy Hogswatch, Rincewind in Oz, and Pratchett's Witches are all in there. Nobby and Colon are in "Rincewind in Oz" and "Look who's Back"

My sketches are all very rough - usually just done on a train or in a coffee shop, so they're not very good as likenesses. I'm just trying to build up a repertoire of ideas.

I love them ^^
In my imagination Ridcully isn´t this round. I always thought he would be more sportive bcs of his hobbies like jogging, hunting ect.
But thats only in my head ^^

If you find the time please draw some sketches of the town watch.
I would love to see Mumm, Colon and especially Nobby ^^

I like the two variations of the shopping trolley scene! The first rougher one is definitely more vivid, but I like the details of the calves and feet in the latter.
Ridcully comes very close to my own imagination the the character!

@ BWN : Thanks, much appreciated.smile.gif

@ Tommes: Last page is the Bursar being carried away in the shopping trolley towards the end of Reaper Man - Ridcully and the Dean are chasing. There is a progression in the sketches as I was trying to get nearer to my own vision of these characters, and I absolutely agree with you. The last few sketches asre closer than the first two to what I wanted to draw. I just posted all of them to show the process. Next time I'm on a train, I'll try again.

Hey des - I love your Pratchett-Characters....especially the dumped Wizard on the last page is very funny.....who should that be? And where does this scene appear in the books? The Bursar's great, too....the only characters who don't match my own imagination of the guys ist he first page - neither the Dean nor Mustrum Ridcully look as I imagine them....the later on sketches of Ridcully look much better for me, that is. In some way in my imagination the Dean is even much fatter and rounder....but that's just the way he looks for me in my head...
