Poseidon's Children

At the beach last week - just started sketching, and this came out. No reflection on my fellow bathers - they all seemed reasonably human.

For a wonder, the Irish sea water was actually nearly not freezing. In fact, it seemed quite comfortable after the first half hour. Blue skin and icicles on the nose are a small price to pay for a refreshing swim.

Again, biro and colouring pencils. The bit of water is Paint dropped in.

Hey Des.
More great stuff. Glad to see you are still at it. Well done mate!!

@ Felix : thanks. I like to try to inject energy and motion into these sketches. If it comes across to you, I've done my job.

@Matthias : these folk are serious sub-mariners. Crossing oceans no problem, and the Irish sea is home water - trust me, you learn to swim fast and far in Irish water. It's bloody cold. unhappy.gif
I haven't read much Lovecraft - must catch up sometime. I just tried to imagine a vaguely humanoid sea monster. I've probably seen similar pictures elsewhere.

That reminds me of Lovecraft's fish-people of Innsmouth. Pretty good swimmers they are indeed, having crossed the ocean into the Irish sea ...
