Ideally, a newspaper syndicate would try to sell funny comic strips to newspapers. Unfortunately, the syndicates are usually looking for something other than quality writing. Cats, for example, seem to be a popular element. We cartoonists sometimes tease each other this way. Like, your strip is terrific, but it would be much more marketable if it had a cat.
