Photoshop commissions

I was asked to come up with a logo for a health spa type place. It's called Nuada after a mythological Celtic warrior who acquired a silver arm to replace the one he lost in battle against the Firbolg (long story, won't go into it here...)
Anyway, I came up with the sketch here and then mucked around with it in Photoshop using my newly acquired photoshoppy savvy, such as it is. Whaddaya think? Any feedback is welcome.

@ Java and Simon: Ookay. smile.gif Hey, I fought the good fight to stay with pen and ink for years, so my own preferences have always been for the hands-on approach. I was just tryin' to move with the times.biggrin.gif

Anyhoo, I'm waiting for the client to come back to. It'll be his call at the end of the day, so I'll just have to wait and see.rolleyes.gif

I do agree with the guys, Des. Defintely go for the the first one . My personal feeling is that using 3-D effects for logos with phototoshop looks less charmingpeer.giftop.gif

Hi des,

yes, #1 is definetly the nicest out of the 3, but still too complicated for a logo from my point of view.

I'd also think of using some visual that gets closer to the essence of the customer's business. I get the idea of the arm, but this one looks pretty bellicous. A gentle (women's) arm might be more appropriate, despite the loss of the mythical background. Have you checked Google Images for "Spa logo"?

There are plenty of tips on logo design available on the internet and many of them are recurrent. Here's some inspirational stuff:

@ antonreiser : Thanks - I see what you mean.

@ Kringe : "F"? confused.gif

P.S. @2L8: nothing wrong with your English, my friend. You use it far better than I can speak German.doubletop.gif

@ Kringe : Soooo...you believe we should take the ILM out of FILM?impressed.gifconfused.giftongue.gif

Much appreciated, gentlepeople. I will take this advice to heart.smile.gif

The first one is my favorite too, I would even try to reduce the details, because it's a logo not an illustration.
Myself I use the Photoshop filters and digital structures very sparingly to avoid a kind of instant graphic.wink.gif

Nooope! Use PS like pen and ink and be grateful for the bucket and gradient tool, but too much FX will kill your work, as too much ILM kills the spirit of a film.

... sooooo, just go with pen and ink and don't bother with the photoshop? peer.gifconfused.gifmixed.gifpeer.gif

Well, that's a big compliment to me, biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif, but now I'm just confused. confused.gif

the first!!!

I also like the first one. In my opinion the others got too many details for a "logo" (the less, the better ;) ).

Also I am not sure if this green is a wise choise for a health spa, otherwise it is near a nuclear power station ;)
Maybe a light blue or a less intensive green.

I have no idea what they will do with the logo nor I do know anything about the health spa, so this are just my thoughts. But at all I like the idea of the logo :)

Just like Kringe said, even if you "can" use effetcts in PS, you don't have to.

(sorry for my crapy english >.< )

The 1st one is my favorite! I know, it's all new and fresh with this PS trickery, but don't overdo it with dem digital structures an' styleswink.gif

the 2. is my favorit, the 3. looks for me like "the Silversurfer" top.gif
