Nativity - Windows for the Priory

I did these last year on perspex for the Augustinian Friars in town to save re-painting the windows every year. They're holding up pretty well, I think. In order of appearance, they are The Annunciation, The Visitation, The Journey to Bethlehem, The Quest of the Magi, and The Birth of Jesus.

I'm not really religious, but I do like to see a change from the constant barrage of Santa Clauses.

These pictures are so beautiful! Really lovely love.gif I'm stunnend by this kind of work! Creative and awesome... I've never imagined that someone could use window colours - instead of painting some flowers in children's room - for something like that!

Thanks. I've tried to achieve a stained glass effect a few times over the years. It's actually not that difficult if you're prepared to lay down the black lines fairly heavily. Unfortunately, emulsion paints are only effective on the side where the light is strongest. From the darker side, the light shining through shows up all of the brushstrokes. Also, if you don't lay on an even layer of paint, or if you give a second coat to any part of the picture, it shows up as a darker patch when the light comes through it.

Thanks. I use water based emulsion paints - same as you might use to paint the walls in your house. They are my main medium for painting. They clean off fairly easily once Christmas is over, which is important for my customers.
