Hellhound

Another unnecessary doodle. I was sitting in the car waiting for the womenfolk to finish shopping, and my sketchpad was handy.

I dropped in the colours using MS Paint - one of the few occasions I've used technology instead of crayons, markers, or paint.

wow, what a cool doggy - i'd like to have one of those tongue.gif

Waiting for women to finish shopping? Well, that produces nightmares!
Hope, your wife and daughters won't spending all your money too soon!

I do not think the tool necessarily steals the artist's soul - except if it's a pirate copy of Photoshop wink.gif - but Gimp can be of great help to speed up things such as coulouring 'behind the lines'. That's a pretty helpful function and MS Paint won't let you do it. sad.gif

I 'm old fashioned - I really do like to do things the hard way. I know the computer program can do amazing stuff - but it's not MY stuff. I know that sounds stupid - I've probably got a martyr complex or something. One of these days I'll try the state-of-the-art stuff, but I'm afraid it might steal my soul.

Great sketch! doubletop.gif

Why don't you go for Gimp? It's and enables you to use layers. Just do the scan in b/w or greyscale (you'd have to turn contract up in that case). There are tons of tutorial videos available on the web. In comparison to good old MS Paint, Gimp can save you a lot of time.

Si, weird dreams are the least of my worries.tongue.gif It's trying to balance occasional artwork, unpredictable chauffeuring for unpredictable daughters, and mixed.gif coping with cats with entitlement issues and a manic depressive spaniel that really makes my days go with a unique spin.dead.gifdrool.gif

Des, you must be troubled if you are having such apparitions in your dreamsdevil.gif. I love both versions for what it's worthdoubletop.gif

Thanks for the comments - much appreciated.

@ Bounty and Antonreiser: I generally prefer to work black and white myself when sketching like this, and I did like the stark feel of the b/w version. However, when I scanned it in, I started mucking around with MS Paint, and the result is the colour version.

When I do post just b/w drawings, I get asked where the colour is.confused.gif Sometimes, you just can't win.unhappy.gif

@ Paul : I drew the picture freehand in biro - that's the outline work, and thanks for the compliment. I dropped in all of the colours using MS Paint, and it was fairly tedious.
I did a full story working from pencils scanned in and inked completely using MS Paint - it's Beggars Can't be Choosers in the Present Time section of this gallery. THAT was very slow work, but I did enjoy it. I like to feel that I'm doing the work, not the computer.

Did you ink that using MS Paint? If so, you have my respect! top.gif
I like the outlines very much!

Yes, I agree with bounty.
