Well, just in sense of drawing I prefer also the first version. Do the same by the way: Drawing ways more details and atmosphere for simple cartoon.

Yes, both cartoons work.
I prefer the first one, because of its coherent ambience of the New Year's Eve at midnight.

The joke works in both versions, but in direct comparison I also prefer the simple and clean drawing.

nah i didn't like the first one anyway. i don't know why i got so detailed. i'm learning. cartooning is a journey. anyone who still draws the same way after 20 years hasn't learned anything along the way. or else they were perfect to start with...which i sure as heck wasn't.

echt - mir gefallt's sehr uber den thema "was ist witzig" unterhalten. ich denke immer daran wann ists besser die Wörte oben (in balloon) zu stellen oder unten (in caption)....und wo das Schlussel de Humor in dem Cartoon liegt, damit man es am rechten statt links stellt. also eure Gedanken sind wichtig.

no i really think this is a good challenge. it's so seldom that we get real feedback on our cartoons - the outside world doesn't really respond other than to "like" or ignore a cartoon. i'm setting myself the challenge of redrawing this in ten minutes. a new cleaner style, perhaps. something to cheer me up at the end of a sucky work day. oh crap someone ust set off a firework outside. speak of the devil. angry.gif
