ENTS!
I went for a walk in the woods last week, and came back intending to draw a picture of a stick. I got a bit carried away, I suppose.
I started the sketch on Wednesday evening, then left it to one side. On Saturday, my wife and daughter went to a concert in Dublin. As the designated driver not attending the concert, I took the opportunity to go and sit in a quiet pub with two cups of coffee for a few hours. I divided my time between reading Charles Dickens "Great Expectations", and drawing this.
A good evening was had by all. I have to say, I was fairly happy with this piece.
Oddly, as I'm uploading this the radio behind me is advertising a one-man Lord of the Rings performance. The mind boggles.
I did go to see the Lord of the Rings musical in London a few years ago. It was an ... interesting experience, but not the success I'd hoped for. Too much story and too little time.

No, haven't seen the newest Holmes yet. I did enjoy the Robert Downey film, but he looks NOTHING like the Conan Doyle character. I am a big fan of Sherlock Holmes and tribute works. I've done a few Holmes based sketches myself at one time or another. I might dig one out and post it here.

Your Master Ent reminds me of the celtic Green Man, Wild Man, perhaps indeed a cultural root of the Ents anyway.
Well, and the human figures have a little bit of the artwork of the Brothers Hildebrandt ...
Big work, and still growing

No, I haven't read Jasper Fforde - haven't even heard of him. Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast, a bit of Dickens, lots of Sherlock Holmes and other Victorian detective stories, Isaac Asimov, P.G. Wodehouse, Rex Stout, Ian Rankin, Iain M. Banks, Richard Dawkins, TERRY PRATCHETT, Robert Silverberg, Simak, .... the list goes on and on. I do read a lot, but I have not come across Jasper Fforde.
Who is Jasper Fforde?

Since you're currently reading Great Expectations and you do like Pratchett, have you ever read Jasper Fforde?
