Thanks. I've tried once or twice to colourise these doodles, but it's very difficult to find an aesthetically pleasing approach. The illusion of continuity is lost if you try to apply colour and it loses coherence. These are drawn as you see them without pre-planning. Best I've managed is applying a wash of colour behind them.
@ Simon - Something like this takes about an hour from start to finish, and a very patient waitress. :) These things are like a meditation or a prayer - you don't plan it or think about it, it just emerges spontaneously when you learn how to "zone out".

@ Mandelbrot : The lines aren't as clean as I'd like them to be, but I was using a bad biro. The art in this is to create the illusion of continuity by constant elaboration. The whole piece is considerably better looking than the sum of its parts.
