I know Scott Mc Cloud, I am not particulary a fan, but I like his book on comic's theorie.
Also I draw Bonom long ago before to know scott.
About the style, as I allready said here : "the style is clean to make it more readable. The character is round for to contrast whith the panel's squares. He has a big nose because it's an archetype of european classical character. Mainly, all the design trys to disappear behind the idea and the rythm of the gag."
