AntzDance
I've had a few fun assignments in recent years doing illustrations for books for teachers.
The idea here was to promote co-operative behaviour among kids in primary schools. I thought ants - appropriately anthropomorphised - would be a good example of groups working co-operatively.
I was given the various chapter titles and ran off a series of drawings to illustrate the key points. The following photos are the cover pages for those chapters.
Illustrating ants is fun, but those extra arms - which I insisted on including because that's the kind of nitpicking idiot I am- do make it a little tricky to keep them all occupied.
...the colours aren't mine. The publishers dropped those in on my line work.
I did a batch of follow-up murals in various schools using these ants.
