Hi my name is Lauren, I live in Bristol, UK.

I am not a professional artist, but I love drawing.
I have never been to art school, although I think it would have been great fun.
I am influenced and impressed by a great number of artists such as Gilbert Shelton, John Buscema, Robert Crumbs, Will Eisner, Ever Meulen, Jooste Swarte, Druillet, Schuitten, Moerrell,Daniel Torres,well I could mention at least a hundred really, better stop there. My early influences and idols were Franquin, Uderzo, F'murr, Herge, Gotlib, Peyo..
I am most impressed with cartoonists because they have huge talent, they are prolific and yet they're not arty, it is a quality that makes them and their art very likeable.

I discovered Gilbert Shelton a couple of years back, ok his stuff is all about drugs and naughty hippies but I am irresistibly drawn to his books because his drawings are so detailed, I keep rereading his stories to study his techniques. His style is very approachable and he doesn't make you feel bad like Schuiten would for instance because Schuiten's style is so perfect.
I started to do cityscape drawings using Shelton's techniques (Dont tell him ! A studio in Bristol are making the Freak Brothers stop animation movie "Grass roots" so I expect Shelton comes to the area a bit)
