[...]Gary's finger zitterten als das streichholz von der hellen flamme des feuers erleuchtet wurde. er versuchte seine tränen zurückzuhalten, doch je mehr er sich bemühte, desto schlimmer war der schmerz in seiner brust. sein nachtara schien mit ihm zu leiden und legte sanft eine pfote auf die schulter seines trainers, wie um ihm mut zuzusprechen. als die kleine laterne endlich erleuchtet war und gary den schützenden deckel draufgeschraubt hatte, sprach er noch einmal die worte, die er immer sprach wenn er am grabe seines freundes war: "ruhe in frieden, mein freund. ich werde dich niemals vergessen..." mögliche geschichte zum bild. der richtige text (oder eher das ref dazu, da man darüber spekulieren kann; wenngleich ich es eigentlich glaube~) besagt - im internet(hier frei übersetzt)- folgendes:
"im originalen rot/blau-spiel, nachdem du deinen rivalen in lavandia wiedersiehst,fragt er dich ob du weißt wie es ist wenn eines deiner pokemon gestorben ist. ab genau diesem punkt hat er kein rattikarl mehr in seinem team, welches er vorhin immer benutzt hat. der letzte kampf mit deinem rivalen fand in der m.s.anne statt, wo du ihn besiegst. das rattikarl deines rivalen hat schwere verletzungen davongetragen aber aufgrund der tatsache, dass das luxusschiff mit einigen schwierigkeiten zu kämpfen hat kann dein rivale sein pokemon nicht rechtzeitig in ein pokemoncenter bringen und es erliegt seinen verletzungen. der wahre grund dass dein rivale nun im lavandiaturm ist ist der, dass er seinen verstorbenen gefährten nun begräbt und die letzte ehre erweist. er erwähnt nie, dass der protagonist (du?) am tod schuld ist. im gegenteil; er versteckt seine gefühle und nutzt den schmerz als motivation, einmal der beste von allen zu werden und es zum champ zu bringen. unter tränen schwört er sich und zum grab seines freundes, eines tages besser zu werden als du und dich zu besiegen. im besten falle will er es sogar in die pokemonliga schaffen.
nachdem dieser traum in erfüllung geht, wird er letztendlich besiegt...von dir... sein triumph schien nur für kurze dauer gültig zu sein, denn mit seiner niederlage wird er auch gleich von seinem großvater, prof. eich, verbal degradiert während du als protagonist dessen ganzen stolz und seinen respekt erlangst. mit ende der story und dem ablauf, quasi deinem triumph, hinterlässt du deinen rivalen zurück; niedergeschlagen, frustriert, und mit geplatzten träumen. unnötig zu erwähnen, dass er keine eltern hat und waise ist..."
fazit des spiels ist also, dass man der eigentliche antagonist ist und demnach der böse...
