Hi, Volker

No, Volker, he isn't a hero, only a villain. If you'll go read the Artwanted link, the info about the putsch is there.
He was complice of a military coup. Stalin, Franco, Hitler, Mussolini... this kind of people. He attacked our democracy, our freedom. The coup was foiled by our King Juan Carlos.
After that, he went to jail, Castillo de La Palma militar prison in Ferrol, the town where I live in. My brother in law was the chaplain at that prison, this way I could go in. Lieutenant-Colonel Tejero gave permission to make this portrait and I made it at prison. Historical document.

Is he a kind of hero? I don't know him (I'm no expert of spanish politics and history), maybe you like to tell more about how it came to this portrait?
