Gara Giraffe, ist die Heldin meines Kinderbuches. Hier die ersten Entwürfe.
Gara ist ein siebenjähriges Giraffenmädchen, mit viel zu kurzem Hals, das davon träumt Fotografin bei Afrikas größter Zeitung den Savanna-Times zu werden.
Gara ist nur ihr Spitzname, eigentlich heißt sie Gasira, was in Swahili soviel wir mutig bedeutet.

Tierlegenden
Echte Giraffen sind schon eher sandfarben mit einem Touch grau als gelb. In Kinderbüchern und auch Comics werden sie wohl meistens gelb dargestellt, da hier generell knalligere Farben verwendet werden als in der Wirklichkeit. Ebenso wird Sand dort ja meistens gelb koloriert, obgleich es auch diesen ja in allen möglichen Schattierungen gibt - von fast weiß über grau und dunklem ocker bis hin zu rot.
Mit deinen eher der Wirklichkeit entsprechenden Giraffenfarben liegst du also überhaupt nicht verkehrt. Und vielleicht sollte das öfter mal jemand so für Kinder kolorieren, denn sonst wundern sich einige beim Zoobesuch vielleicht, dass die Giraffen dort die "falsche" Farbe haben. Ich finde es z. B. mittlerweile total blöd, dass in fast allen Kinderbüchern oder Trickfilmen Raben und Krähen gelbe Schnäbel haben - und Kinder dann denken, es sei tatsächlich so, da sie die "Natur" eher durch den Fernseher kennen lernen als durch das tatsächliche Beobachten der Natur.
Es gibt noch so manche Verzerrung der Natur in Kinderbüchern, wie z. B. die "typische" gelbe Ente mit orangenem Schnabel, der "typische" Strauß, der den Kopf in den Sand steckt (was eine sich hartnäckig haltende Legende fernab der Realität ist) und und und. Allein dafür, dass du hier die echten Giraffenfarben verwendest, verdient die Darstellung m. E. schon eine gute Bewertung.

Gelb
Hi Ron,
Gelb? sind Giraffen wirklich gelb? Muß noch mal drüber nachdenken. Mit der Geschichte hat das nichts zu tun. Nur der kurze Hals ist wichtig, denn unter dem leidet die kleine Giraffe sehr.
Danke für den Tip mit dem Mund.

Die sieht doch ganz gelungen aus. Aber warum ist sie nicht gelb? Gehört das später zur Geschichte?
Ich würde im zweiten Bild den Mund der Giraffe ohne den Backenstrich zeichnen. Das würde besser aussehen glaube ich
