Un nuevo estudio ha mostrado como cada vez aumenta el número de personas que parecen estar usando el aceite de CBD en lugar de los medicamentos farmacéuticos, y las cifras parecen estar aumentando día a día. El CBD, también conocido como cannabidiol, es uno de los muchos canabinoides encontrados en la planta de cáñamo. Un estudio publicado a principios de agosto del 2017, por la empresa de investigación de mercado, Brightfield Group, que entrevistó a 2.400 usuarios registrados en HelloMD, un sitio web de educación y promoción médica del cannabis. El resultado más impresionante de este estudio fue que el 42% de las personas que usan CBD informaron que habían dejado de usar drogas farmacéuticas y en su lugar optaron por usar algún tipo de cannabis. Los que participaron en este estudio utilizaron ya sea una cepa de cannabis con altos niveles de CBD, así como una mínima cantidad de THC o productos de CBD que dan a lugar a los mismos beneficios sin tener que sufrir los efectos psicoactivos, como los suplementos de aceite de CBD derivados de la planta de cáñamo.
